We do not sell personal information, rent mailing lists, or use your information for automated decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
4. Member directory
Our member directory helps members find and contact one another.
-
Visible to the public: member or company name, industry, logo, website, and LinkedIn page.
-
Visible only to signed-in members: point-of-contact name and title, business email, and business phone.
-
Never published: home addresses, personal phone numbers, and payment information.
You choose whether to appear in the directory when you join. You can edit or remove your listing at any time by signing in to your member account, or by emailing info@italbarm.org. Members may use directory details only for legitimate business networking, not for bulk marketing or resale.
5. Event photos and video
We may take photos and video at our events and publish them on our website, social media (such as LinkedIn), and newsletter to share the association's activities.
-
If you prefer not to be photographed, tell the event organizer at check-in or note it when you register, and we will do our best to keep you out of published images.
-
If an image of you has already been published, email info@italbarm.org and we will remove it from our website and social media accounts.
-
We do not publish photos of children who can be identified without a parent's or guardian's permission.
6. Children
ITALBA membership is for adults (18 and over). Some events are open to families, and children may attend with a parent or guardian.
-
We collect children's information only from a parent or guardian, and only what an event requires (such as a first name and age for a ticket or headcount).
-
We do not knowingly collect personal information online directly from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
-
Information about children is used only to run the event and is not added to our mailing lists or directory.
7. How we share information

Partners, only with your consent. Part of our mission is introducing Italian and American businesses and professionals to each other. We will share your contact details with a partner business, organization or institution in Italy or the US only after you agree to that specific introduction.
Other members. Information in the members-only directory is visible to other signed-in members, as described in Section 4.
Legal reasons. We may disclose information if required by law, subpoena or court order, or to protect the rights, property or safety of ITALBA, our members or others.
If ITALBA changes. If ITALBA merges with or transfers its activities to another nonprofit organization, member information may be transferred to that organization, which will be bound by this policy or one at least as protective. We will notify members in advance.
8. Cookies and analytics
Cookies are small files a website stores in your browser. We use two kinds:
-
Essential cookies keep the website, sign-in and forms working. They cannot be switched off without breaking the site.
-
Analytics cookies help us understand how visitors use the site, such as which pages are most visited. [If Google Analytics is used: we use Google Analytics, provided by Google LLC, which collects pseudonymous usage data.] We set analytics cookies only after you accept them in our cookie banner.
You can change your choice at any time through the cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or block cookies in your browser settings. Embedded content from MembershipWorks and Luma may set its own cookies, governed by those providers' policies.
9. How long we keep information
-
Current members: for as long as the membership is active.
-
Former members and past event attendees: 2 years after the membership ends or the event takes place, then deleted or anonymized.
-
Newsletter subscribers: until you unsubscribe.
-
Contact form messages: 2 years after our last exchange.
-
Payment and accounting records: as long as tax and accounting law requires (generally 7 years).
-
Children's event information: deleted after the event.
10. How we protect information
We use reputable providers with industry-standard security, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) and payment processing that meets card-industry (PCI) standards. Access to member information is limited to board members and volunteers who need it for their role, using individual accounts and a shared password manager. No system is completely secure, but we will notify affected people and authorities as the law requires if a breach puts your information at risk.
11. International transfers
ITALBA is based in the United States, and most of our service providers store data in the United States. If you are in the European Union, including Italy, your information will be transferred to the United States. We rely on providers that participate in the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or that use the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses to protect these transfers.
12. Your rights and choices
Everyone can:
-
Ask what personal information we hold about you and receive a copy.
-
Correct information that is wrong or out of date. Members can update most details themselves by signing in.
-
Ask us to delete your information, unless we must keep it by law (such as payment records).
-
Unsubscribe from our emails using the link in any message.
-
Remove or hide your directory listing at any time.
-
Withdraw any consent you have given, without affecting what we did before.
If you are in the European Union, including Italy, you also have the right to restrict or object to our processing (including processing based on our legitimate interests), and to receive your data in a portable format. You may lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority; in Italy this is the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali (www.garanteprivacy.it).
To make a request, email info@italbarm.org with the subject line "Privacy request." We will respond within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity before acting. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as our activities or tools change. We will post the new version on this page with a new effective date, and notify members by email of any significant change.
